A single Starship launch. A bootstrap package of drones, crystals, and mylar. And a rock with CO₂ trapped inside it at the Earth-Sun L4 Lagrange point — already there, waiting.

From that single event, a self-replicating, solar-powered manufacturing cascade begins. Each mirror formed increases available power. Each drone built builds more drones. Each asteroid processed feeds the next factory. No second launch from Earth is ever required.

The Mirror Cascade

Volatile eruption in zero-g vacuum forms parabolic mirrors from asteroid iron-nickel. Each mirror concentrates solar flux for forming the next. Exponential growth from a single seed.

Zero-G Refinery

A spinning molten asteroid separates by density — platinum group metals at the rim, iron-nickel intermediate, silicates inner, carbon at center. The record-player blade reads it out as pure material ribbons.

Optically Flat Extrusion

Molten metal extruded through precision orifices in free-float vacuum is polished by its own surface tension to optical smoothness. I-beams whose flanges are mirror surfaces. No tooling. No post-processing.

Pre-Bake

Mylar balloon captures all volatiles before melt. CO₂, ammonia, water, organics — nothing wasted. Clean feedstock for what follows.

Melt & Spin

Full melt. Spin increases. Centrifugal force flattens body into a disk. Density separation sorts every element into concentric rings.

Record Player

A blade or microbeam tracks radially inward. Pure platinum group metals, then iron-nickel, then silicates — each band a continuous ribbon of one material.

Extrude

Ribbons force-fed through precision orifices. Wire, ribbon, I-beam, tube, optical fiber, glass sheet — all surfaces optically flat by surface tension.

Carbon & Volatiles

Carbon fraction yields nanotubes, graphene, fullerenes. Volatile fraction yields propellant, polymers, fertiliser. Nothing discarded.
